WSQ Perform Alignment of Rotating Equipment |

Participants
will be taught
to perform dial
gauge alignment
using the face
and rim and the
reverse rim
methods. Both
mathematical
formulae and
graphical plots
will be used to
derive the
alignment
corrections.
Laser alignment
has been gaining
popularity as a
productivity
tool and with
the reduction in
the cost of the
equipment. It
employs similar
alignment
principles and
methodology
mentioned
earlier to align
machinery
shafts. And
trainees will be
introduced to a
laser alignment
system. |

Entry Criteria
- Singaporeans, Permanent Residents or Holders
of valid employment pass / work permit
- Able to interpret basic technical drawings
and technical specifications
- Able to use precision measuring instruments
such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, and dial
indicators
- Basic competencies in handling common hand
tools
- Able to read, speak and write English at a
proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 4
- Able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency
level equivalent to ESS level 5
- Completed safety training related to a
process plant or facility

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be
able to:
- Prepare for alignment work on rotating
equipment
- Perform alignment work using the face and
rim, and reverse rim alignment methods
- Perform alignment work using the laser
alignment method
- Reinstate rotating equipment for operation

Certification
Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded
under the Singapore Workforce Skills
Qualifications (WSQ) Framework to Competent (C)
participants.
A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded
for completing each competency unit
successfully. The Certificate in Process
Technology (CPT) will be issued to the
individual after obtaining SOAs for all 8
modules including 4 core and 4 elective modules. |
